* Maths and English homework will be completed through the online learning platform called 'Atom'. Children's log-in details are on the back of their new Learning Logs.
* Children will also be expected to read five times a week for a minimum of 15 minutes. Please ensure to sign your child's Learning Log as these will be checked daily by adults in the classroom.

Cycle 4 - Creating a better world
Our learning in Cycle 4 will be centred around the theme of creating a better world, encouraging children to think about how people, communities and the environment can work together positively. In Science, Year 5 will be learning about living things and their habitats, where they will study the life cycles of a variety of animals and plants and explore how living things adapt to survive in different environments. The children will also learn about famous naturalists and animal behaviourists who have helped us better understand the natural world.
In Knowledge of the World, our overarching theme will be land use and settlements. As part of this learning, the children will explore the history and significance of the Paralympics, learning about perseverance, equality and the importance of creating an inclusive society where everyone has the opportunity to succeed. Towards the end of the year, we will focus on the geography and history of Houghton Regis, exploring its location, physical and human features, land use and how the area has changed and developed over time.
